Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of longtime community member Bret Mills, aka @Chops | SirGuido, who passed away March 15th, 2026.
Bret was an unforgettable presence at every table he graced, and it’s safe to say that most TAL players have shared a memorable moment with his signature character, “Chops.” We, the TAL Admin, are honoring his memory in the following ways:
- A Kudoboard of messages of love and support to be shared with Bret’s family to let them know how much Bret meant to our community and that they are in our thoughts as they grieve.
- Please remember to consider your words from the family’s perspective as you craft your message.
- Bret’s obituary from the funeral home includes the ability to send flowers for his visitation, and TAL Admin will be sending an arrangement.

e: Chops Edition will be hosted and is open to Tier 4 Fighters, Barbarians, and multiclasses between those classes, only. Donations to Extra Life in memory of Bret are encouraged during the event.
- As with previous RoyTALes, this non-AL tournament will be played with AL-legal characters carrying their full array of permanent items and restricted consumables. Message @reb_far for a seat at the table.
The Battle RoyTALe: Chops Edition will be livestreamed on our Twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/theadventurerleagues, and the VOD will be uploaded after to our YouTube channel. It will start at 12pm (US Pacific Time) on Saturday, April 4th. Come by and cheer on the competitors who will fight in Bret’s honor to see who comes out on top!
